These little books are so good

I am buying these little books for a friend of mine who is 8 years old and lives in Mexico. She reads Spanish quite well, but insists that she wants to learn English. I thought these books would help her to do so. She is being raised Catholic and her mother has given me approval to send these books about the Bible to her. They are more basic than what she is reading in her native language, but since she is also learning the English, I think they are about the right level for her.
In addition to learning to read, she is learning her basic Bible stories from them. I never cease to be amazed at how "right on" these 32 page books are. Each page only has one paragraph, so that is not overwhelming especially if she is just reading away at the Spanish. This book tells the basic story of Adam and Eve and gets in the concept of "Sin" by noting that sin is doing something that God has asked you not to do. A very appropriate and great way to introduce that concept to a child, or to anyone for that matter.
I really love the episode where God catches Adam and Eve eating the forebidden fruit. In this little book, just as in the Bible, Adam points the blame at Eve and Eve points at the snake. The snake looks much malighned in a cartoonish sort of way and slithers off "to eat dust on his belly" all the days of his life.
Adam and Eve are portrayed as being a light coffee color that could be any race. Adam names the animals and Eve helps him with them after God's creation of the earth. The things God did on each of the first 7 days are properly enumerated. In the end, Adam and Eve are seen leaving the garden, but the last page in the book points out that Jesus will come to rectify all this disaster.
It is, in my opinion, very very well done and is an appropriate book for any little child learning to read English or Spanish.

Mi kids ( 2&4 y/old) live this book and we have the whole series.
My older son had a presentation at school about what he likes and he brought the David and Goliath one to school as his fav. Book.
I love that they can learn the word of God in their own level :)
If you are a parent that want their kids to know God stories I will definitely recommend the whole series!

Very nice children's book in English/Spanish

I was looking for children's books to take to the Dominican Republic on a mission trip that has both English and Spanish. These books are simple, great pictures and bright colors. I really like them.
