Don't Be Fooled

For those who enjoyed the Beginner's Bible by Karyn Henley, this is NOT it! I gave Karyn's bible to my son seven years ago and was looking for a replacement for my daughter. I bought this bible by mistake because the illistrations and title were so similar and have been hugely disappointed. It lacks depth and purpose in the stories. This book might as well been written by an athiest who can spout out a story line but lacks any genuine understanding behind the story. If looking for a children's bible I strongly recommend finding a Beginner's Bible by Karen Henley (used or new) rather than settling for this or any other children's edition that reduces these stories to a trite sequence of events.

Great beginner's Bible for young readers!

This is an excellent Bible for young children. We have been using it for about 5-6 years now for our kids who are now 8 and 9, and just bought 2 more to give to relatives for their kids. The stories are very well written with young kids in mind, and even before they could read we would read for them and they loved to follow along and look at the illustrations, which are beautifully done and designed to appeal to young minds. Each Bible story is simplified so it can be read in just a few minutes, even by young readers, but still covers the important points of the story. There are about 50 stories from the Old Testament and another 50 or so from the New Testament. We have worked through it and begun again at the Creation story many times, and the kids still love it even at 8 and 9 years old.
We do realize it is time for them to move on to a Bible more suited to their ages (perhaps past time, but we have enjoyed this one so much it's hard to let it go!) We are actively looking for one more suited to their ages and would welcome recommendations from others!

My daughter LOVES this.

My 7-year-old daughter came home from Vacation Bible School asking specifically for The Beginner's Bible to read on her Kindle Fire. I was pleased to pay $9.99 for something she was so excited about (especially the Bible!) and I even paid another $10.49 for the Audible version so she could read, listen, or read and listen simultaneously. We are both so thrilled with this purchase. Not sure what version this is - definitely not King James, New King James, or New International Version - but it is simple enough for a 7-year-old to understand, and there are lots and LOTS of stories here! The illustrations are appropriate for my daughter's age group - bright and cartoonish, but that's relevant to her interests. She has a strong faith, but is still a beginner, so this was an excellent "first" Bible for her. I look forward to the two of us enjoying this e-book (and the audiobook) for the next couple of years, at the very least. A sound investment!
