She is a screenwriter and story editor for both film and television, and is currently a founding partner in a motion picture development company. Very Disappointing

We bought this devotional for our 7-year-old son over a year ago. We bought the older devotion book for our older son, but thought the younger version might be a better choice for our 7-year-old. We have read the entire book and I have to say we are very disappointed. Many of the stories do not make much sense or relate to younger children, nor do they correlate to the selected Bible verse. I also agree with a previous review that it seems to introduce the ideas of bullying, stealing, etc. to children who often haven't done those things. The "final straw" for me was the lesson on Dec. 9th that talks about sadness by describing a girl who puts her sad feelings about losing a pet into a poem. The poem begins, "Not a yelp or a whimper as the needle pierces his skin, as the poison of sorrow but happiness passes through his innocent sickly body." I ask you, what young child can handle reading THAT?
The Adventure Bible Book of Devotions for older kids is a MUCH better choice. We have read through that one almost 2 entire times, and I have found time and again the lessons relate to something we have been experiencing or recently been talking about. The stories go right along with the daily Bible verse, and often lead to meaningful conversations with our son. Even though it is labeled for kids 9-12 years old, many of the stories would be fitting for 6-8 year olds, and it's certainly a better choice than this devotion book. I highly recommend that one instead!

Not for the younger kids...

I really wasn't to impressed by this devotional. Alot of the stories I did not want to read to my 7 year old. There are many lessons to be learned without telling stories of lying, bullying and being disrespectful to adults and siblings. To me it was just feeding ideas in their heads of how else to be disobedient. I am still looking for another devotional for them.

EXCELLENT WAY TO HAVE KIDS READ THE BIBLE!

My daughter is 7 and loves this book. They are real examples of life situations that she can relate to. Sparks discussion and provides additional bible verses for further reflection. A MUST in todays's world!
