Lively and interesting characters

Designed for children ages 4 and up, Joyce Meyer's latest children's book "Field of Peace" follows a cast of animal characters who are focused on winning the baseball championship at Everyday Zoo. The star pitcher, Boyd the giraffe, really wants to win, and the team seems destined to do so until Arnold the Armadillo gets hit by a ball! Suddenly, he can't seem to catch any ball, and the team loses their first game that season. Soon Boyd makes a decision that may help their team win, but its one he feels terrible about until he can make everything right again and "find the peace that comes from doing right before God".
"Field of Peace" is a story filled with lively and interesting characters and beautiful illustrations that will certainly hold your children's attention, while also making them laugh! The story itself is a simple one but filled with drama that is sure to appeal to young readers. It is one that they will surely identify with as Boyd gives into temptation to put his own needs ahead of his friends. The story also does a great job at bringing to life the reality that when we do things that don't make God happy, we really feel bad about it! If they are like my own children, your young listeners will cheer at the happy ending. I did not read the first book in this series, but I certainly plan on keeping my eye out for it.
If you are looking for a book that will entertain your children while providing a worthwhile message at the same time, then plan on picking up "Field of Peace". 4 out of 5 stars.

conversation starter

Previously I enjoyed reading Joyce Meyer's first children's picture book about prayer and now she has another that is about friendship, teamwork, and peace at heart. This is a good read about children learning about fairness and where fun really comes from. A conscience is an important part of knowing yourself and learning right from wrong and this book is a good starting point and conversation starter.

Wonderful!

I love this book, and my 4 year old loves it, too. There's all sorts of adorable, fun things we laugh at and cheer for all along the way, and it's so nice to read a book that includes discussion of values and how God wants us to use peace as our umpire for the way we live our lives. Thank you, Joyce. (We also love her other book Every Which Way to Pray.)
