About the Author
Dr. Benjamin Carson is professor and director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions and the author of two other best-selling books, Gifted Hands and Think Big. A widely respected role model, he shares motivational insights with inner-city kids and corporate executives alike. He serves on the corporate boards of The Kellogg Company, Costco Wholesale Corp., and American's Promise among others, and is an Emeritus Fellow of the Yale Corporation. He lives with his wife, Candy, and three sons in Baltimore County, Maryland.
Cecil Murphey, author of over forty books, has also assisted well-known personalities in writing their biographies.

Inspiring message, very good read

Very interesting to read about Ben Carson's career, the people who influenced him along the way, the ups and downs in his practice, the successes and disappointments, the opportunities he had to study with the best, challenges with difficult cases, involvement with the families of his patients. All the while what comes across is just what we saw in his bid for Presidential candidate - his gentle spirit, humility, faith in God, kindness, confidence instilled in him by his mother especially and then others. He insists on giving credit to those who backed him in every case - certain teachers, colleagues, secretary, receptionist, on and on. The theme of this book is to "do your best" in whatever role you are playing. Ben Carson is an exceptional person. I wish he had gotten the nomination.
